Congratulations to Zurie Joseph, Carlos Cisneros, Olivia Smith, Olivia Cichocki-Bartlett, and Angela Curiel for being selected as Student Representatives to attend the 2016 California State PTA Legislative Conference in Sacramento on March 14th & 15th.

These 5 students were selected after completing an application, submitting a personal essay, and participating in PTSA events and fundraisers.

While in Sacramento, the students:

  • gained experience in leadership, public speaking, lobbying, advocacy, and decision making;
  • heard speakers from the California Department of Education, California State Senate, and State Assembly, and
  • met with their local legislators in their Capitol offices, to discuss real issues that affect education, students, and the community.

They were also given a behind the scenes tour of the Assembly and Senate floors.

It is our hope that this experience will continue as a new tradition for not only Poly students, but to include students from all of our high schools.
