2014-2015 Poly PTSA Nominations & Election Info

posted Jan 21, 2014, 11:47 AM by Adriana Katanić-Curiel

Dear Poly High School PTSA (“PHS PTSA”):

It is now time for the PHS PTSA to elect a nomination committee.  The nominating committee is elected by the membership at an association meeting at least 2 months prior to the annual election committee.  The individuals selected will be responsible to slate the Poly High School PTSA for the 2014-2015 school year.  Elections will be held at the annual meeting.  Nominations of who will be on the nominating committee must be presented for the February meeting.

If you are seeking to be on the nominating committee, please make yourself known to me, Diana Renteria, Parliamentarian for Poly High School PTSA.

We will need to meet twice [Wednesday, January 29 at 6:30 p.m. and then again either Saturday, February 1st, or Sunday, February 2nd tbd] before the next board meeting February 4, 2014.  [My policy about meetings….if I have to take you away from your family….I promise to make it worth your wild….which means I enjoy hosting committee members with an array of tempting morsels and refreshing drink.]

Currently, we have two individuals who have volunteered their time.  Thank you, Laura Robles and Catherine Bennage, for volunteering early on to be on the nominating committee.    It is recommended  that both the student committee member  and membership should be on the committee.  There needs to be five members on the committee total.

As Parliamentarian, I am to arrange a date, and I am an alternate on the nomination committee.  I am to give instructions at the first committee meeting and I am only permitted to stay on the committee if someone on the committee is unavailable.

Qualifications of the nominating committee members include, but not limited to, a willingness to devote time to responsibilities, knowledge of the eligibility requirements and qualifications for each office, aware of the qualifications and abilities of nominees, give objective consideration of nominees, be tactful, discreet with integrity and keep all deliberations confidential.

If you are currently on the board and you are seeking to remain in your board position, leave your position or would like to seek a new position, the nominating committee needs to know, on or beforeJanuary 28, 2014 by 5 p.m. Please send an email to diana@drlawoffice.com with your name, your current position, and whether you are seeking a new position (identify the position please) or you are seeking to decline from service.  The positions available are located at our website www.riversidepolyptsa.com.

Descriptions of each PTSA position can be found below, or at the California PTA website link: http://www.capta.org/sections/management/job-descriptions.cfm.  Details regarding the nomination committee and process can be found at: http://www.capta.org/sections/management/nominations.cfm#electing.

Thank you for your time,

Diana Renteria
